Kastellorizo

This very small island became famous thanks to Gabriele Salvatores' Oscar-winning film "Mediterraneo", but despite the fact that tourism has been developing in recent years, the main economic activity of the island remains fishing.

The main inhabited center of Kastellorizo is Magisti dominated by the ancient ruins of the Fortress of the Knights of Rhodes made entirely of reddish colored stones.

This small island does not offer much to see except the peace of the place and the beauty of the sea.

Not to be missed is certainly a visit to the museum which houses ancient Roman finds located in a beautiful 18th century Turkish building, and a visit to the church of Agios Kostandino built in 1833 on the remains of some monolithic columns that belonged to an ancient temple.
